Camp Staff

Summer at Laurel is staffed by Laurel School faculty, students, and alumnae. Check out the biographies below to learn more about our fabulous staff!


Ray Rossman

Ray is currently an 8th grade Science Teacher at Laurel School, but next year will be teaching both 7th and 8th grade Science. He also coaches Middle School Track at Laurel and Middle School Wrestling at Hawken. 

Fun Facts: Ray enjoys all kinds of outdoor activities and is very competitive. He plays co-ed softball and sand volleyball, and just completed the Cleveland Full Marathon. He also loves trivia! 




Emma Forquer

Emma is a Chinese Teacher at Laurel School. 

Fun Facts: Emma was born and raised in Taiwan. She also has a black cat who understands both English and Chinese!







Danielle Dachtler

Danielle is a K-8 Learning Specialist at Laurel School.

Fun Facts: Danielle worked with all boys at University School for 9 years. She is a docent at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and teaches at their summer Teacher's Institute. Danielle also runs the Project Adventure ropes course!



Chuck Allen

Chuck is the Director of Experiential Learning at Laurel School.

Fun Facts: Chuck has biked, rock climbed, and hiked all over the country. His winter activities include cross-country skiing and ice climbing. He loves to be outside having a positive influence on others who are interested in new and fun activities. Chuck believes in a quote by Alex Lowe: "The best climber or (________) is the person having the most fun".



Meghan Davis

Meghan is the Assistant Director of After School at Laurel School.

Fun Facts: Meghan loves running and is currently training for the Rock and Roll half marathon. She also loves traveling. This summer she will be visiting Nashville, TN, Sanibel, FL, Portland, OR, Traverse City, MI and Boston, MA.



Kim Soeder

Kim is the 4th Grade Assistant Teacher at Laurel School and the Assistant Director of Summer at Laurel.

Fun Facts: Kim went to art school for 2 years before deciding to become a teacher. She also worked as a barista during college and still considers herself skillful at making cappuccinos!



Christina Hunt

Christina is a French Teacher and the Co-Chair of the World Languages Department at Laurel School.

Fun Facts: Christina loves to cook, garden, read, travel, and spend time with her dog, Kuma. She has lived on 3 continents and has been to 28 countries!





Jessie Sussen

Jessie is the Assistant to  the Administrator of Programming.

Fun Facts: Jessie is a Laurel alumni (Class of 2008) and a recent graduate of Miami University. She has been working at Summer at Laurel for 4 years and loves to work with kids! She is currently pursuing her masters degree at John Carroll University for Nonprofit Administration. Jessie loves to read, go to the movies, enjoy the outdoors, and be with friends.



Maura McCool

Maura is a 3-day Preschool Teacher at Laurel School.

Fun Facts: Maura's favorite book is F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. She is a Pittsburgh native who will cheer for the Browns, as long as they aren't playing the Steelers! She also likes to cook and travel.




Audrey Elszasz

Audrey is a Preschool Teacher with an interest in Outdoor Education at Laurel School.

Fun Facts: Audrey speaks bad German. She hates scary movies. Audrey only eats plants and her favorite snack is popcorn!





Marissa Strange

Marissa is a Middle School/Upper School Latin teacher and the World Languages Department Co-Chair at Laurel School. She also coaches Middle School volleyball.

Fun Facts: Marissa loves swing dancing and rock climbing; she has hiked to the top of and walked around the rim of Mt. Vesuvius, the volcano that destroyed Pompeii and Herculaneum. She also learned how to tango when she loved in Argentina.
