Gator Train campers begin their second day in Ireland with
playtime outside, which included some bubble fun! During the Whistle Stops, the
campers learned about Irish dancing with Miss McCool. They watched a Sesame
Street clip of Murray learning how to Irish dance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKPmb5XznFE
Miss McCool showed the group a photo of herself as a young
Irish dancer dressed in her costume for a performance. At the end of the
lesson, the children watched Miss McCool dance a jig and learned a few dance
steps of their own!
For the second Whistle Stop, the campers played games in the
Multipurpose room with Ms. Strange. After Lunch, Miss McCool introduced the
campers to Alli the Gator, who recently traveled to Ireland and explored many
beautiful rural and urban areas of the country, which were shown in a
slideshow. We ended our day with a special dance performance from Anna, who is
a Laurel student and talented Irish dancer. Anna brought her ghillies (soft
shoes) and hard shoes to show us, and danced several traditional Irish
dances. Thank you for sharing your talents with us, Anna!
