Today language campers
headed to Laurel's Butler campus, where they spent time exploring the outdoors.
French campers went on a creek walk and looked for les écrevisses (crayfish).
Spanish campers did a scavenger hunt in Spanish for items you typically find in
the woods.
When we arrived back at
campus, the French campers practiced saying whether they liked or disliked
foods, then did a taste test of foods that are sucré, salé, and acide (sweet,
salty, and sour). Following this, campers learned about the gargoyles of Notre
Dame and created their own sculptures out of clay.
In the afternoon, the
Spanish campers made Columbian line drawings by using sand and glue, while
practicing their colors. After snack, Spanish campers had a chance to try
different fruits of Colombia and made licuados.
Tomorrow, we're off to
explore animals at the zoo! We'll be talking about habitats, what they eat,
actions, and using descriptive words.
