Thursday is Field Trip Day on the Gator Train! This week the
Lions and Elephants made their way to The Natural History Museum in University
Circle. Both groups participated in a program designed around our weekly theme
of Africa. We learned about animals, crafts, culture, tools, and farming and
hunting. We learned about the Cape Buffalo, hand made instruments, fly
swappers, marriage bracelets, new hunting laws in Africa and preservation. We
even got to see the head of a 14,000 pound African bull elephant. He was huge.
After the program we were able to enjoy some of the other exhibits including
the local animals, birds, and the outdoor live animal exhibit. We learned that
Ohio has more Mastidon skeletons than any other state in the US. Wow! The
National History Museum is so cool.
