After spending the
morning creek-walking and playing group games at the Butler campus, French and
Spanish campers returned to Lyman Circle. French campers role-played the
experience of shopping in a market, with one acting as a "vendor" and
the other as the customer. They then tasted different fruits, using the
expressions, "j'aime/je n'aime pas" (I like/I don't like). Today they
tried litchi, mango, papaya, pineapple, plums, and bananas. After this, campers
wrote postcards from camp, detailing in French what their favorite experiences
have been so far.
Spanish campers learned
about the artwork of Joan MirĂ³ and created MirĂ³-inspired bookmarks. They then
feasted on las tapitas, tasting olives, three different types of Spanish
cheese, chorizo, jamon Iberico, and tomatoes with olive oil.
Tomorrow we're off to
Mentor Headlands Beach!
