Freaky Friday : Dress Like Your Favorite Animal!

It was certainly a FREAKY Friday at the Butler Campus. Instead of our normal campers, all sorts of animals arrived!

After a few activities and lunch, our "animal campers" were magically transformed back into our regular campers! Back in their normal skin, the Daring Camp and Magic Tree House campers had fun keeping cool in the sprinklers.

In the afternoon, both camps participated in many activities. Magic Tree House campers played games like "Monkey Says" and had a 3-leg Relay Race. They also made Bubble Snakes! Daring Camp made gator sculptures out of marshmallows, strawberries, and bananas. They also experimented more with various methods of painting, including making marbled paper.

To end our week at camp, Daring Campers (our Freaky Friday winners!) chose to make Candy Kabobs! Campers got to make 2 kabobs to take home. They chose from many gummy candies - licorice bits, gummy bears, gummy works, candy oranges/watermelons, and sour patch kids.

Thanks for a great week at camp! We can't wait to see you next week!

Daring Artists!

Daring Camp spent the day swimming, playing in the creek, and continuing to explore various ways to make art. Campers returned to one of their favorite activities: throwing paint-filled water balloons off the Magic Tree House onto paper on the ground below. They also made homemade play dough. Campers loved getting their hands dirty! Tomorrow is Freaky Friday! Don't forget to dress like your favorite animal!

Magic Tree House is Animal-icious!

Magic Tree House Camp spent the day swimming, exploring in the creek, and learning about all the various animals that live in the rainforest. They read from the Magic Tree House Research Guide: Rain Forests in order to learn new information! They also made alligator and bird crafts. Tomorrow is Freaky Friday! Don't forget to dress as your favorite animal!

Antarctica Day 3

It was another busy day at Gator Train! We began the morning by playing tennis with Mrs. Buchinsky in the multi-purpose room as part of our weekly, “Little Racquets” program. During our craft time, we warmed up our bodies by dancing to the “Freeze.” We learned about rulers and how various measuring tools are used to measure the snow and ice levels in Antarctica. Then, we created our own penguin rulers. At the end of the day, we did water relay races outside and then cooled off in the library by listening to the story, “ The Emperor’s Egg” by Martin Jenkins.

The children are very excited about our field trip tomorrow to Thornton Park for our ice skating lesson! As a reminder, campers should wear the green “Summer at Laurel” shirt, and bring a bicycle helmet, as well as a pair of gloves to camp.

Daring Camp Goes to the Art Museum!

Daring Campers went to the Art Museum! They took a drawing class and explored the museum! Check out the pictures below!
