Adios Spain!

Our journey to Spain concluded today.  This morning, campers learned about traditional Spanish alfajores, which resemble logs made with flour, honey, almonds, and spices.  Latin American alfajores are completely different: they are buttery shortbread cookies sandwiched together with a dulce de leche filling (similar to a thicker caramel sauce).  Los Toros y Los Churros were eager to try dulce de leche for the first time and they loved it! Los dos grupos then made their own alfajores to take home.  After our cooking activity, campers practiced their flamenco skills using their abanicos (fans) and castañuelas (castanets). During our story time, Los Toros y Churros read "The Story of Ferdinand" and made a bull of their own.  Los grupos ended the day (and a fabulous week) with a water play "fiesta" outside.  They had a water balloon toss, ran through the sprinklers, and just had fun!  ¡Gracias por viajar a España con nosotros!
