Summer Language Institute (SLI)

With our passports in hand, we departed for Paris, France today. In the morning, campers explored the Eiffel Tower through an interactive website, practiced greetings, weather, and clothing, and learned how to express likes and dislikes. We also talked about our families and animals. After lunch, French campers baked a Gateau au Yaourt (yogurt cake) that they will have a chance to try tomorrow morning. Campers also looked at the Giverny gardens of Claude Monet and took a walk outside to be inspired by nature before painting their own watercolor and pastel works of art. À demain!

Spanish campers immersed themselves in the culture of Colombia today. In the morning, they practiced greetings, clothing, and weather, then listened to the music of Shakira and danced the waka waka. Campers also practiced yoga as they learned the names for parts of the body. In the afternoon, they studied animals and colors through the art of Fernando Botero. They created clay sculptures modeled after his work before making alfajores (dulce de leche cookies). ¡Que rico!
